8th January 2010
Dear Parents,
I am Mdm Serene Leong, the Level Custodian for Primary 5 2010. It is my pleasure to handhold the P5 pupils through this transition year before PSLE next year and on behalf of my P5 teachers, I would like to seek your continuous support in 2010.
You would have probably received the introductory letter from your child’s form teacher through the class blog with regards to classroom matters, expectations and their details of the subject teachers for your child’s class. Please feel free to contact the teachers to better understand your child’s progress throughout the year.
I would like to take this opportunity to inform you some upcoming activities that your child may engage in term 1. For future updates on activities for each term, I will be uploading the information onto the level blog. Do hope that you can visit the level blog frequently for the latest update on activities that will take place each term.
Below are some upcoming activities for term 1:
1) Remedial Lessons
The above-mentioned lessons would be scheduled on certain Mondays (English and Chinese) and Tuesdays (Mathematics and Science) of the term. Please refer to the consent forms that your child may receive if he/she is selected for remedial lessons.
2) Primary 5 Adventure Camp
Our annual 3 days 2 nights adventure camp for Primary 5 pupils will be held from 25th to 27th January. The aims of the camp are to allow pupils experience outdoor and rugged activities. It is also an excellent opportunity to strengthen the bond between the teachers and pupils. We will be conducting a camp briefing for all pupils before the camp. We look forward to your child’s participation in this camp. Further details were given in the camp letter given out earlier.
3) E-learning@Home experience
The school has designated 28th Jan and 29th Jan to be the E-learning@ Home days for all our Primary 5 pupils after the camp. All pupils with access to internet at home are encouraged to stay at home and access our e-learning platform for their lessons on these two days. Subject teachers will assign online work to the pupils. The school will still be available for pupils who do not have access to internet at home to participate in this learning experience.
4) Chinese New Year Holiday
The school will be closed from 14th Feb till 17th Feb for CNY celebrations. When the students are back from CNY holidays, there will be some school celebrations too.
5) Continuous Assessment (CA) 1
All Primary 5 mainstream pupils will be required to sit for the Continuous Assessment 1 in term 1 for some subjects, please kindly refer to the dates stated in the school calendar. Scope of assessment for each subject will be issued nearer to date.
I hope the above information will be useful to you. Please feel free to contact me at leong_shuet_lai@nyps.edu.sg or any of the P5 teachers should you have further queries about our school programme.
We look forward to your support and partnership in educating your child.
Yours sincerely,
Mdm Serene Leong
